NSCAP: Community Access Program Will Continue

From the NSCAP website: “Despite the cancellation of funding in April of this year by the Harper Government, CAP in Nova Scotia will continue at a site near you.” Read the full release . BARA update: Return Your Library Materials at the Halifax Seaport Famers’ Market

From Libraries Nova Scotia Friday, June 22, 2012 Beginning in July, you’ll be able to return your library materials at the Halifax Seaport Famers’ Market. Library books borrowed from any of the more than 100 university, community college or public libraries anywhere in Nova Scotia can be returned to a drop box that will be located at the market. The market drop box will arrive at the farmers’ market in July and more information, such as exactly where at the market the drop box will be located, will be available at that time. The market drop box is a project ofLibraries Nova Scotia, a collaboration between Nova Scotia university, community college, public libraries and the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage.It is an extension of the Borrow Anywhere, Return Anywhere initiative, which allows all Nova Scotians to borrow and return books from anywhere in the province. Award deadlines extended

The closing date for nominations for the Emile Theriault Library and Information Technology Award and Norman Horrocks Library Leadership Award , presented at NSLA, has been extended to July 20 . These Awards recognize the achievements of individuals who have made significant contributions to the Library field. Please consider nominating a colleague for one of these Awards. This year’s conference will take place in Port Hawksbury (hosted by Eastern Counties Regional Library). The deadline is July 20 . Recipients of NSLA Student Awards Announced

NSLA is pleased to announce the recipients of the School of Information Management, Dalhousie University and the Library and Information Technology, NSCC graduate awards. The NSLA Award for the School of Information Management graduate, given to a student with high academic achievement and a demonstrated commitment to public libraries, went to Ariel Kleber .  Ariel was awarded this at the School of Information Management award reception. The recipient of the 2012 NSLA Award for a Library and Information Technology Student, which recognizes the achievement of a graduating student for the greatest contribution to the overall programme, is Dea Nieuwejaar . The recipients of the NSLA Awards each receive a certificate of accomplishment, a one-year free membership to NSLA, and a monetary prize. Congratulations to Ariel and Dea!
