Adopt a Library Literacy Program bookmarks at a Walmart near you!

The Adopt a Library Literacy Program with the help of participating Walmart stores in Nova Scotia is offering a unique bookmark to their customers as a fundraiser to support this children’s literacy program.

During the last two weeks of March participating Walmart stores in the province will be offering to customers an AAL bookmark for a donation of $1.00. All the proceeds raised at each local Walmart will stay local and be used by the local police and libraries to promote Children’s and Youth Literacy.

Cst. Kennedy, the provincial coordinator for the Adopt a Library Literacy Program advises that “this is the largest coordinated partnership that the Program has ever initiated. We have 10 Walmarts so far on board.

Cst. Kennedy states that the idea was first discussed with the store managers of the Antigonish and New Glasgow Walmart locations, and after discussing the Program with other Walmart store managers in the province, several other store locations were quick to jump on board. Kennedy says that since the Program’s inception back in 2000, one of the first (and most enthusiastic) program sponsors was the New Glasgow Walmart store and their employees. And with their continued support, this has brought the children’s literacy program to a whole new level and this will help thousands of kids around the Province.
